Rehabilitation

Restoring Childhood, Rebuilding Lives

At the Vajra Bodhi Society, we believe that every child deserves a chance—not just to survive, but to thrive. Our Child Rehabilitation Program is designed to give children who have experienced poverty, neglect, abuse, abandonment, or social exclusion a second chance at life. These children often come to us bearing deep emotional scars and developmental gaps. Through compassionate, structured, and holistic care, we aim to restore their childhood and nurture their future.

Guided by the teachings of Lord Buddha and the unwavering compassion of Bhikkhu Rahul, this program works to rehabilitate children physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. We don’t just offer them a roof and a schoolbook—we offer them healing, dignity, and purpose.

Who We Help

The children we welcome into our rehabilitation program come from a wide range of distressing circumstances:

  • Orphaned or abandoned by families

  • Victims of child labor or human trafficking

  • Children living in extreme poverty or social isolation

  • Those with emotional trauma or developmental delays

These children often suffer from malnutrition, delayed development, and severe emotional insecurity. Our mission is to respond to these challenges with love, care, and structure.

A Comprehensive Rehabilitation Framework

Rehabilitation at Vajra Bodhi is not a single service—it is a comprehensive, child-focused journey of renewal and transformation. Our approach includes:

  • Physical rehabilitation through regular nutrition, healthcare, and personal hygiene support

  • Educational rehabilitation through placement in our Vajra Bodhi School or partnered institutions

  • Psychosocial support through counseling, mindfulness sessions, and safe adult mentorship

  • Skill development in daily living tasks, communication, and emotional self-regulation

  • Community reintegration through family tracing and social inclusion when possible

This program is run by a dedicated team of caregivers, teachers, and volunteers who treat every child with respect, patience, and empathy.

Focus on Developmental Skills

Recognizing that many of our children require specialized support, we include focused developmental interventions as part of their rehabilitation, such as:

  • Communication skills: Encouraging verbal and non-verbal expression to reduce frustration and enhance social bonds

  • Social interaction: Group activities and games to build trust, empathy, and cooperation

  • Fine and gross motor skills: Exercises through play, art, and physical activity to improve coordination and independence

  • Cognitive development: Stimulating mental processes like memory, attention, and problem-solving

  • Adaptive skills: Training in daily living tasks such as eating, dressing, and basic hygiene to promote self-sufficiency

These specialized interventions are tailored to each child’s needs, ensuring a truly individualized path to recovery and growth.

You Can Be Their Lifeline

Our child rehabilitation efforts are entirely funded by private donors and compassionate individuals. Just INR 24,000 per year can support a child’s complete rehabilitation journey, including medical care, education, nutrition, and emotional support.

Your contribution can help a child reclaim their stolen childhood and step into a brighter, stable future. Sponsors receive personal updates and are encouraged to witness the progress their support makes possible.
