VAJRA BODHI MAHA VIHARA
A Journey of a Buddhist Monk & the Buddha Temple at Vajra Bodhi Society Campus
By Bhikkhu Rahul Sankrityayan
This is the inspiring journey of Bhikkhu Rahul Sankrityayan, a devoted Buddhist monk who has committed his life to preserving and spreading the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. As part of his lifelong mission, he has initiated the construction of a grand Buddha Temple within the Vajra Bodhi Society campus at Bodhgaya, the most sacred place where the Buddha attained Supreme Enlightenment.
The temple is being built approximately 2 kilometers south of the Maha Bodhi Temple, the main seat of enlightenment. It is situated 500 meters south of the ancient Mucalinda (MochaLinda) Tank, where the Buddha was protected by the serpent king during meditation, and 500 meters before the ancient Rajayatana Tree, the place where, according to Burmese travelogues and historical accounts, Burmese merchants offered honey cake to the Buddha shortly after his Enlightenment.
Though still under construction, this temple stands as a symbol of faith, peace, and dedication. The majority of the support for this noble project has been generously provided by Buddhist devotees from Taiwan, whose deep reverence for the Dharma has helped bring this vision closer to reality.
Those who wish to become part of this sacred mission and contribute to the construction of the Buddha Temple are warmly invited to extend their support. For donations or further information, please kindly contact:
